Aseptic packaging (mainly juice boxes, but also includes milk and juice cartons and other layered packaging for liquids) consists of several layers of paper, plastic and/or aluminum that need to be separated, making it difficult to recycle. Aseptic packaging makes up only .03% of the entire solid waste stream, creating little market interest for the packaging. Aseptic packaging is not recyclable in Kent County at this time.
