Propane Tanks
Propane, also called LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) or LP gas, is a liquid fuel stored under pressure. In most systems, propane is vaporized to a gas before it leaves the cylinder. Propane is flammable when mixed with air and can be ignited by many sources, including open flames, smoking materials, electrical sparks and static electricity. Severe “freeze burn” or frostbite can result if propane liquid comes in contact with your skin.

***Once completely empty, small Coleman-style camping and torch propane tanks (generally 1 pound) may be placed in the trash. If you need to dispose of a 1 pound or less disposable propane tank with contents remaining, make an appointment for disposal at a household hazardous waste collection center (see Household Hazardous Waste).
