Shingles

Over 70,000 tons of asphalt shingles are removed from roofs of homes across Kent County every year. These asphalt shingles can be recycled for use in road paving projects. Petroleum and aggregate can be recaptured during the recycling process, reducing the need for new materials. Since the asphalt is reused in other projects, recycling shingles is cheaper than sending them to the landfill. Recycling also preserves space in a landfill.
